It's going to fast.....

Was looking at pics today and found this when the twins were two weeks old:

They actually wore the same outfit when they turned 3 months:

My babies are getting to big to fast!!!! Can't believe they are 3 months today!! Will put up 3 month post this week :)

Easter

The twins celebrated their first Easter on April 20. The Easter bunny brought them each a Disney songs cd to listen to and an Easter book. They also each got an Easter outfit! They were of course thrilled for all of this! Maverick got a new toy, but of course had to explore the babies Easter baskets to make sure he got the best gift :)

Mommy had to stage the babies for some cute Easter photos.....Pinterest inspired of course:

Here they are in their Easter outfits:

I had two outfits for each (in case of spit up) so they wore the other outfit the day before Easter:

It was a beautiful day so we went on a long walk with the kids and Mav. Their Aunt Lesley, Uncle Nate, and cousin Rocky were able to celebrate Easter with us, so they came on the walk too. I can't imagine a better first Easter for the babies!

2 months

I can not believe they are 2 months already!! (Wonder how many of these posts I start that way!). It really is flying by. I'm so sad I only have a month and a half left of maternity leave, on the other hand I'm SO lucky to still have a month and a half with them as most people would be going to work at this point. Each day the twins get more and more fun. As they get bigger (and as winter comes to an end with all of its germs) we are taking them to more places. The past month they went to their first restaurant (Sushi!) and that was followed by even more restaurants (YAY mom and dad can get out of the house together!!!). They also had their first shopping experience at Target! So this month I think I will start with the "Firsts" they experienced over the past month.

Firsts:
To develop saliva (hello drool stage!!): Kylie! Around 6 weeks she started with lovely spit bubbles followed by Alex around 7 weeks.

Trip to Daddy's Work:

Restaurant: We went to their first restaurant when they were 4 weeks old. It was Hajime, mom and dad chose it because its rarely crowded and its close by. Go figure it was packed that night but we still got to sit at a booth in the back. Babies did great overall, didn't fuss til the end and even then it wasnt disruptive to those around us. Following this at 5 weeks they went to Chilis on a Friday night for dinner and slept through the whole meal. At 7 weeks they went to Hells Kitchen in downtown Minneapolis. They are really doing great at restaurants (but how can you do bad when you sleep the whole meal!). We will miss this easiness when they are a bit older and harder to keep calm/quiet when eating out!!!
On their way to Chilis:

First Trip to Target!!!! We went 3/21/14 (7.5 weeks). It was quite the show I'm sure. Alex was strapped to Ed in the baby bjorn. Kylie slept in her carseat on the grocery cart. Ed pushed the cart and carried Alex. Mommy walked around and looked cute (just kidding....mommy grabbed all the groceries and then talked daddy into Starbucks!)  Both babies (and mom and dad!) did great and I think the fact that we went during a weekday when it wasn't crowded helped. This will make future trips much easier.

St. Patricks Day! Mommy failed and forgot to get outfits so we had to make do with two of Alex's green shirts (sorry Kylie you had to wear boy clothes!).

Alexander:
Weight: 10# 7 oz (12%ile)

Height:  21.5 inches (3.2% ile)

Diaper size: Newborn

Clothing size: Newborn

Feeds: Neutramigen formula due to his colic and reflux. Taking 4.5 ounces every 4 hours during the day (9, 1, 5) and then goes 5 to 6 hours at night (YAY FOR US!) Becoming a much cleaner eater. He likes to look you in the eyes when he eats and often has his hands on the bottle. If his hands aren't on the bottle they are holding your finger or resting on his belly.

Sleep: He goes to bed at 9:30 after having a diaper change and bottle and listening to lullabies. He usually wakes around 2 or 3 to eat and then goes back to bed easily for another 4-5 hours and again eats and will sleep until 9 or so. He sleeps by himself in his crib. He is a noisy sleeper and grunts a lot in his sleep but other times he is very relaxed with his arms above his head (if he was able to get them out of his sleep sack) and a smile on his face. He takes 3 naps a day, one in mommies arms, one in the pack n play or crib, and then one in the evening. He LOVES to be snuggled and would sleep exclusively in mom or dads arms if given the chance.

Health: Still having Reflux and on Prevacid. Had a stuffy nose at 7 weeks. Has colic, not to severe on the new formula, but fussy in afternoons. Luckily for mom, you can console him bug snuggling him and giving him his pacifier. Otherwise healthy as can be.

Behavior: Such a smiley boy when he's happy. He makes all kinds of faces that crack you up. He will let you know he is unhappy (IE. you did not get the bottle to him fast enough)!!! He has a super loud cry when he's mad. When he is awake he is very interested in his surroundings and takes everything in. LOVES to look at the lights. Looks you in the eye when you are feeding.

Play : He LOVES to look at lights when he is awake and will stare at them until he falls asleep.  He is very content to lay on his playmat although he has no idea what to do on it, he is happy though just staring at the mobile and listening to music. He loves music in general, we play it during day feeds now and he is very content. We think he loves the 80s like mom and dad! He likes his vibrating chair, mainly because he is elevated enough to look everywhere. He likes his rings and is starting to grab at them. Also is finding moms hair, yay for that one! Loves his pacifier.

Kylie:
Weight:  8#11 oz (2.8%ile)

Height: 20.5 inches (0.83%ile)

Diaper size: Newborn

Clothing size: Newborn, grew out of preemie around 7 weeks old

Feeds: Breast milk from a bottle during the day and  Gentlease formula at night. Taking 4 ounces every 4 hours during the day (9,1,5) and every 5 to 6 hours at night! . She is a VERY clean eater and doesn't dribble much. She does tend to spit up some if you don't get a good burp. When you feed her Kylie likes to hold your finger or have both arms relaxed at her side. She finally started trying to put her hands on the bottle around 6 weeks.

Sleep: She goes to bed at 9:30 after having a diaper change and bottle and listening to lullabies. She gets woken up at night to eat after her brother eats. So she goes a solid 5 to 6 hours! She is a good sleeper and will sleep by herself in the crib. She sleeps better if she is in her sleep sack. She LOVES to snuggle (prefers chest to chest). She fights daytime naps. She will take it if you hold her but otherwise she whines. Occasionally she'll go down for one in the crib or pack n play.

Health: Still has Reflux and is on Prevacid. Had colic, but luckily for mom you can console her just by holding her. Is generally fussy starting at 2pm and it lasts until 5 or 6. Has a clogged tear duct in her left eye. Otherwise very healthy!

Behavior: Such a mellow little girl and usually waits patiently for her turn to eat.  Looks you in the eyes when feeding (if she is really awake for it). Does not smile to often, but has a good grasp on how to give a frown! (Or as mom and dad call it, the "Kylie is not impressed" look). I think we have a diva in training!! She is starting to give more smiles each day, and when she does wow is it cute!

Play : She loves her yellow giraffe rattle and will track it. She occasionally grasps on to her taggies or rings. She does enjoy her vibrating chair and will happily sit in that. She loves sucking her pacifier, actually she is probably beyond in love with her pacifier. We joke that she is a member of P.A. Its like alcoholics anonymous but for pacifier addicts!

Together:

Some of our highlights of the past month:
Watched the Big 10 Tournament and cheered on Purdue. Purdue blew it in the first round but the Twins still looked cute!!

Daddy took a long weekend so we could watch the NCAA tournament when it kicked off.

Maverick is getting more and more accepting of the twins.

Can't wait to see what the next month brings us with these two sweethearts!
